What do i need to know about Level 1
Level-by-Level Blueprint 🏅 Level 1: The Stitch Apprentice Estimated Timeline: Variable (Typically 1–3 months depending on coordination and attendance consistency). Core Competencies & Tiny Details: Complete studio safety orientation and machine emergency protocols. Mastering machine anatomy (threading the needle, winding the bobbin, controlling foot-pedal tension). Practicing stitch precision: mastering straight lines, pivoting sharp corners, and perfecting the lock/reverse stitch. Learning to handle basic woven fabrics and introductory slick textiles (like satin). Milestone Graduation Project: Designing and independently constructing a custom satin-lined hair bonnet, matching scrunchie set, or multi-use zippered travel pouch. 🎓 Important Program Details (How the Lab Works) Individually Paced Learning: We do not rush creativity. Our studio operates on an individualized tracking system where the lead instructor guides and assesses each student at their own unique pace. Flexible Timeline: Because mastery depends entirely on a person's individual learning speed, focus, and class consistency, there is no set expiration date for a level. An apprentice advances only when they have fully and safely mastered the core competencies. Fully Equipped Studio: High-end sewing machines, professional cutting tools, and foundational training textiles are fully provided in the studio. Bring Your Own Kit (Encouraged): While we provide everything, apprentices are highly encouraged to build up their personal sewing kits (shears, pins, fabric markers) and bring them to class to foster independent practice habits at home.

All essential sewing tools and materials are provided by the Kallistyles Sewing Lab. Students do not need to bring their own supplies for the apprenticeship program. However, we recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes and bringing a small notebook to track your progress and take notes during lessons. Our studio is fully equipped with: • Industrial and domestic sewing machines • Sergers and specialty equipment • Premium fabric selections for practice and projects • Professional-grade cutting tools and measuring instruments • Thread, notions, and embellishment supplies If you have specific fabric preferences or want to work with personal materials for your graduation project, please discuss this with your instructor during your initial consultation.
